MAC Makeup Fafi Tutorial: A Black and Aureate Smokey Eye

I finally got my paws on MAC Fafi yesterday, and all I have to say is MEOW! Love information technology. This forenoon I busted out a few things from the collection — Fafi Optics 1 Quad, Nice Vice Paint Pot and the Not So Innocent Lipstick — and created this subtle gold and black smokey eye for work.

A few days ago, after the super-spy MAC Fafi swatch mission, I fell in love with Fafi's Paint Pots (honey Dainty Vice!) and lipsticks merely wasn't floored by the eyeshadow quads. I changed my tune after playing with the Fafi Eyes 1 Quad ($36) this mornin'. The colors work with my peel tone (so far the shades "Hey" and "Vanilla" are my faves), and the textures apply like butter. If y'all dearest neutral eyeshadows, I recall y'all'll dig this quad.

At present, on to the look! New to semi-complicated makeup? Don't despair. If y'all've e'er worn at least two eyeshadow colors at a fourth dimension, then you can certainly handle this. Yes! You lot! Tin!

Products I used to create the look…

1. Dior Long-Wearing Moisturizing Concealer in shade 430
2. MAC Fafi Optics 1 Quad – Vanilla eyeshadow
3. MAC Paint Pot – Nice Vice
4. MAC Fafi Eyes 1 Quad – Howzat eyeshadow
5. MAC Fafi Optics ane Quad – Hey
6. MAC Fluidline Eyeliner – Blacktrack
7. MAC Eyeshadow – Concrete
8. MAC Zoom Lash mascara – Zoomblack
9. MAC Barbie Beauty Powder – Pearl Flower
10. MAC Cremestick Lip Liner – Sublime Civilisation
11. MAC Glaze Lipstick – Not So Innocent
12. MAC Lipglass – Articulate

Brushes and tools I used (from left to right)…

7. MAC 209 eyeliner castor

Missing from the picture show below are the MAC 219 pencil brush and the MAC 136 covered lip brush. They were hiding beneath a piece of paper when I snapped this shot, the sneaky bastards.

I divided the eye wait into two phases, and here'due south a map detailing the placement of the eyeshadows/ Paint Pot in Stage 1:

For Phase 1 you'll be using…

1. Vanilla eyeshadow on browbone
2. Prissy Vice Paint Pot on inner lid
3. Howzat eyeshadow on outer lid
4. Hey eyeshadow on center of the hat

Begin by blending an even layer of Dior concealer onto the entire surface of your eyelid. This gives the middle products we're near to use something to latch onto and intensifies the color of the eyeshadows.

Next, apply Vanilla eyeshadow to your browbone with the Sephora all over shadow castor.

Using the MAC 249 large shader brush, apply Nice Vice Paint Pot to the inner lid.

This is what it should look like then far:

At present, take your MAC 239 eye shading brush and apply Howzat eyeshadow to the outer third of the eyelid.

Using the aforementioned brush, apply Hey eyeshadow to the center of the eyelid. Alloy away any harsh lines.

Congrats, you sexy thang! You lot've finished Phase 1.

At present, 'tis fourth dimension for Stage 2, where you'll add together more definition to your upper and lower lashes. Here's a map to guide you:

For Phase 2 you'll be using…

1. Fluidline eyeliner on upper lash line
2. Howzat eyeshadow on upper and lower lash line
3. Hey eyeshadow on upper and lower lash line

First, trace a sparse black line along the summit lash line with your MAC 209 eyeliner castor. Instead of trying to do it in 1 long stroke (which I find difficult to practice), it may aid to utilize the liner in sections. Using the thin pointed tip of the brush to smooth out the line, start with the outer 3rd, so the middle, and finally the inner 3rd of your lash line.

This is what you should have:

Side by side up, grab a MAC 219 pencil castor and apply Howzat eyeshadow over the line you just made on your upper lash line. Apply the same eyeshadow to your lower lash line with the same brush.

Still with the same brush, blend Hey eyeshadow just higher up the Howzat you just applied to both the upper and lower lashlines.

You're about washed! Fill in your brows with Concrete eyeshadow and a MAC 266 small angle brush. Curl your lashes, and apply 2 coats of MAC Zoomblack mascara to your pinnacle and bottom.

Plagued past night circles? Quickly make clean up whatever devious shadows with a DHC Olive Oil Swab, and apply Dior concealer to hide your night circles with the MAC 194 brush. Grit a layer of Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder #2 with a castor like the Billy B Paintbrush No. 4 to set the concealer.

The optics are done…

Now, it's time for the lips. Line your pucker with MAC's Sublime Civilization Cremestick liner. With a MAC 316 covered lip brush, add one layer of Not Then Innocent Coat Lipstick, blot, add together a second layer to ramp up the sparkle gene and top information technology off with a layer of MAC Articulate Lipglass.

To complete the look, apply your favorite foundation and setting powder. I used Chanel Teint Innocence compact foundation in 50 Natural and Laura Mercier's translucent setting powder. With a MAC 129 blush brush, use MAC Pearl Blossom Beauty Powder to your cheeks, and now you're ready to stone!
